Manasbal Lake set to become eco-tourism hub with new scenic pathway | KNO

Ganderbal, Jan 23 (KNO): The Roads & Buildings (R&B) Department has unveiled an ambitious project aimed at transforming Manasbal Lake, located in Central Kashmir's Ganderbal district, into a premier eco-tourism destination. The centerpiece of the initiative is a 1.8-kilometer scenic pathway encircling the lake, offering visitors’ unparalleled views of its breathtaking beauty and surrounding landscapes, while preserving the region’s delicate environmental balance. As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the project, which comes with a cost of Rs 9.82 crore, will be built using eco-friendly materials and sustainable construction practices. The pathway will include walking trails, observation points, and designated rest areas designed to provide panoramic vistas of the lake and its serene surroundings. The careful design ensures minimal environmental impact, safeguarding the natural ecosystem of the area. In addition to enhancing the visitor experience, the project is expected to stimulate the local economy by attracting tourists, thereby benefiting local hospitality businesses, artisans, and agricultural sectors.
